District 3 Together

North Beach and Chinatown share a long history and are among the oldest in San Francisco. They are populated with a mix of low-income and SRO residents, affluent professionals, and just about anyone else up and down the economic ladder. Built upon waves of immigration, these two areas originated as somewhat distinct, but that distinction faded away long ago. They now form one community with a rich, shared history.

This map extends the current boundaries of District 3 to bring it to a 1.49% deviation. It keeps the COI containing North Beach and Chinatown intact and contiguous. It joins Aquatic Park with Fisherman's Wharf and the Embarcadero, eliminating an artificial split between these highly interconnected areas. This map also unifies all of Russian Hill in District 2.
