THREE NEIGHBORHOOD WALKING TOURS

Conducted by Telegraph Hill Dwellers members Joe Butler to benefit local nonprofits including THD

 

Sunday, March 26th: Famous Russian Hill Women to benefit the San Francisco Art Institute (SFAI)

Come Celebrate Women's History Month with a walking tour of Russian Hill's West Slope.

10:00 am - 1:00 pm: Meet at Larkin and Green Streets:

Six Famous Women:

  • Marian Hartwell

  • Elizabeth McClintock

  • Dorothy Orrick

  • Margot Patterson Doss

Find out what these six famous women have in common** and why they are so famous. The $20 tour will be limited to 15 persons, and all its proceeds will benefit the San Francisco Art Institute.

We will be walking down Union, up Filbert, down Greenwich, and up Lombard between Larkin and Polk, so wear comfortable shoes and be ready for a work out!

Saturday, April 22nd:

Stairway Gardens, New and Old to benefit the South End Rowing Club (SERC)

Celebrate Earth Day with a walk to see the work of your neighbors, installing plant materials and other amenities on streets too steep for paving. Meet at Chestnut and Larkin, 10:00 am - 1:00 pm on the Filbert Steps at Montgomery on Telegraph Hill.

The $20 tour will be limited to 15 persons, and all its proceeds will benefit the South End Rowing Club.

We will be walking through Chestnut at Culebra Terrace, the Greenwich Garden Path at Hyde, Macondray Lane at Jones, Jack Early Park at Grant Ave., the Pimentell Garden on Greenwich at Telegraph Hill Blvd, and the Grace Marchant Garden, at Montgomery.

Sunday, April 23rd:

Telegraph Hill Historic District to benefit the Telegraph Hill Dwellers (THD)

Learn about the pre-1906 survivors in the historic district on the east side of Telegraph Hill. Sunday April 23rd at 10 am to 1 pm. Meet at the southwest corner of Union and Montgomery.

The $20 tour will be limited to 15 persons, and all its proceeds will benefit THD.

We will be walking on Union and Montgomery Streets, Alta and Calhoun Terrace, and on the footpaths and steps on Greenwich, Filbert, Darrell and Napier. By the time we finish we will have traversed some ten blocks and seen just about all of the Historic District’s approximately 100 buildings.
