Status: New Children’s Structures in Washington Square Park

At the July 19 THD board meeting, Judy Irving informed the Board that two design workshops have been held to date regarding the renovation of the children’s playground in the northwest corner of Washington Square Park. Marilee Gaffney is representing THD in the Friends of Washington Square Park meetings, and is both monitoring the project and making suggestions. The playground is funded by the 2012 Clean and Safe Neighborhood Bond, and the project will remove the old play structures which are deemed unsafe, and install new structures. Judy shared with the Board that the materials will be non-toxic and a lot of new swings will be installed.
