Remember, as a member of Telegraph Hill Dwellers, YOU can make a difference:

Help Maintain the High Quality of Life in the Neighborhood:

We're for small businesses, restaurants, cafes and the ambiance they generate. We're against refuse on the streets, graffiti, and crime.

The mini-parks at the Vallejo steps and the Kearny steps are the result of hard work by THD neighbors.

Tree-planting is an ongoing project. In 1995 and 1996 we planted more than 350 trees all over Telegraph Hill.

Help Preserve the Character of Telegraph Hill and North Beach:

THD has actively suported the 40-foot height limit since its inception, keeping high-rises off the Hill. We continually monitor plans for new developments, to ensure that new buildings are in keeping with the neighborhood.

The Telegraph Hill Historic District, which includes some of the oldest buildings in the City, was a THD project. We also worked enthusiastically to save the Grace Marchant Garden on the Filbert Steps, and continue to protect them.

Help Protect the Interests of the Neighborhood:

THD was instrumental in preventing construction of a freeway that would have encircled the Hill. We helped to establish a Residential Parking Permit plan to ease chronic parking problems.

THD is actively engaged in restoration of Pioneer Park at Coit Tower.

THD Committees participate in: planning and parking issues, renovating Pioneer Park at Coit Tower, preserving historic buildings, monitoring crime, and keeping a close eye on the development of new city planning codes.
