Introduction - The Telegraph Hill Dwellers Oral History Project This project records the experiences of some of the unique people who have made, and continue to make, our neighborhood the wonderful place it is. As well as preserving the character of Telegraph Hill, we want to preserve the characters of Telegraph Hill. The Oral History committee has gone into hibernation and needs some new members to take over and set up training for a new group of volunteers to interview, edit, and produce North Beach oral histories. There is still enthusiasm in the community to continue this project. If you are interested call Rozell Overmire, 415-989-3945. To date our collection includes transcripts of interviews with:
Excerpts from some of these interviews are listed to the left. Would you like to read one of these interviews in its entirety, or any others from our collection? The full transcripts are available at the North Beach Branch of the San Francisco Public Library and at the San Francisco History Center, Main Branch. They are also available at the Bancroft Library at U.C. Berkeley. |
