It's been one whole year since the Center for Urban Education about Sustainable Agriculture (CUESA) launched the Thursday Ferry Plaza Farmers Market and my how our little one has grown! We are celebrating our first birthday with piņatas, prizes, and party hats on July 1, 2010 from 10 am - 2 pm at San Francisco's Ferry Building.

The first 111 folks to visit the farmers market information booth will receive a $1 gift coin to be used towards their next market purchase. Many stalls are offering birthday specials, including a free side salad with purchase of a sandwich from Roli Roti, free kraut shots from Farmhouse Culture, and buy-one-get-one-free pizza from 10-11 am at the Pizza Politana stand. Arlequin Pastries will unveil a new smoked vanilla cupcake (complete with birthday candle) and Tacolicous will have a birthday piņata to crack at the close of market.

We'll be giving away over 50 prizes to those who enter a raffle by dropping their names and email addresses into our 5 gallon salad spinner. Prizes include posters, certificates, hats, tote bags, t-shirts, coupons for free summer fruit and more. Complete raffle prizes are listed below.

EVENT: Les Petits ChanLes Petits Chanteurs d'Aix-en-Provence Concert in North Beach

DATE: Thursday, July 8

TIME: 7 pm

PLACE: Sts. Peter and Paul

The internationally acclaimed singing group, Les Petits Chanteurs d'Aix-en-Provence, include young men from eight to 25 years whose repertoire includes music in French and English. Some of it is serious and some not so serious.

This will be the first stop on their current tour. There is no admission cost . . . but they will appreciate your donations. They were last here in 2004. Many of our members came and some brought their children to hear the concert. If you are available that evening, please come. You will be happy you did.

The Church parking lot will be open that evening for the Concert.

EVENT: THD 3rd Annual North Beach ArtWalk. Celebrate the arts in North Beach by taking a stroll in the neighborhood to visit artists and listen to poetry and music in local venues.

DATE: September 25 & 26, 2010

TIME: Opening event Friday evening the 24th (location to be announced)

PLACE: All over North Beach in artist studios, restaurants, cafes, Jack Kerouac Alley (Sunday only), galleries, etc

COST: $25 registration fee includes a listing on the map and invitations to participate in special events
